Eva Reichmann: Witness, Historian, Legacy

6. November @ 19:3021:00 UTC+0

Kostenlos

With this lecture series, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Eva Reichmann —The Leo Baeck Institutes in London, Jerusalem, and New York are launching a new annual lecture series in honour of this important historian and sociologist.

Who was Eva Reichmann?

Eva Reichmann (1897–1998) was a pioneering scholar of antisemitism and a central figure in the post-war reconstruction of Jewish life and memory. Reichmann combined academic rigour with a deep moral commitment to documenting the experiences of victims of Nazi persecution.

As Director of Research at the Wiener Library in London, she initiated one of the earliest systematic efforts to collect eyewitness accounts of Nazi persecution – a project that laid the groundwork for later testimony collections around the world. The lecture series bearing her name seeks to commemorate this legacy and to reflect on the broader contributions of scholars and scientists persecuted under National Socialism.
